With Louisiana’s first specialized neurocritical care unit, first Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, nationally ranked neurological and neurosurgical programs and comprehensive rehabilitation program, Ochsner creates individualized care plans for hundreds of thousands of patients in the region with brain and spinal disorders across the entire spectrum of neurological care. In 2019, the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute served our community with over 459,000 patient encounters.

After suffering from a rare combination of conditions that caused repeated seizures, Karen Damare benefited from innovative robotic surgery to target abnormal areas of the brain.
